LAGERTAL
Vines suspended between the flow of the Adige River and lands sculpted by ancient volcanic eruptions.
Water and fire have shaped the slow evolution of the landscape, unquestionably linked to the vine and therefore to the final character of the wine. Which Isera has always preserved and promoted.
Nowadays, these estates are tended like gardens, with rural terraces and remnants of crops – mentioned in specific harvest documents dating back to 1644 – which have been transforming grapes into delicious wine for centuries. Basalt soils perfect for growing grapes, an exciting geological formation, and a specific affinity for essential wines, unique in their Alpine style that draws inspiration from the Dolomites, and in perfect harmony with the fascinating history of the Vallagarina.
Our wine-making vision revisits and revitalises the concept of "ager", a Latin word referring to cultivated land at high altitude, overlooking the river flowing through the valley below and benefiting from the area’s unique microclimate. The vineyards are perched on the sunny slopes of Folaso, an area with some intriguing place names; some refer to "Brom", meaning "place of vines", derived from Bromius, the name used by the Romans to invoke the god Bacchus.
